Gwyn (グェン guen, "Gwen") is Hiro's adoptive grandfather. While Gwyn disapproves of his grandson's reckless exploring, he recognizes that Hiro's spirit of adventure may have originated from him as he was quite similar in his youth. Gwyn's origins are unclear and it is unknown when he adopted Hiro and Ruby.
It is implied that Gwyn had many adventures during his youth which may have led to him meeting Hiro's parents, although the content of these adventures is never explained.
Gwyn joins Hiro's party for a short time while in the Blue Spire, but leaves afterward due to his advanced age.
