Dragons

Creation and Purpose

After Althena transported the surviving members of the Blue Star to the vibrant world of Lunar, she created four divine dragons for the purpose of protecting Lunar as well as herself. They were White, Blue, Black, and Red. She designated a Dragonmaster who was honest, strong and just to command the power of the dragons when there was a need for it.

Nall and Ruby

Only two of the dragons were given names. Nall, the White Dragon and Ruby, the Red Dragon. Why this was done is unkown but it's assumed they were given names for the plot of the games. They both start out as something akin to flying kittens, and only discover their true form and purpose later in the storyline.

Nall is the only dragon shown to be able to take on a human form. Once again, the reason for this is unkown, though it could be that Nall is the most experienced dragon out of the four.

It's implied in Lunar: Eternal Blue that Nall and Ruby develop romantic feelings for one another but this is left to speculation.
